The following are among the most important research topics of the Erasmus MC: cardiovascular research; research into the functioning of sensory perceptions and the nervous system, research into the development and treatment of various forms of cancer, research into the application of imaging techniques in medical practice, epidemiological research, in particular with regard to children and the elderly, research into infectious diseases, fundamental genetic and cell biological research, stem cell research and research into the functioning of healthcare in society.
