Medical Delta
The Netherlands wishes to become one of the most innovative and competitive knowledge economies in the world. The exploitation of scientific knowledge available at and acquired by universities and other knowledge institutes is essential to achieve this goal.
Knowledge exploitation implies that developed knowledge is appropriately translated to the economic activity. So that it will not just be used for purely scientific goals but to ensure trade and industry can benefit to the best advantage from this knowledge. Knowledge exploitation – in addition to education and research – is increasingly becoming a core task of universities.
Leiden University, Delft University of Technology, Leiden University Medical Center, Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam and Erasmus University Rotterdam also give the highest of priorities to the interest of our ‘knowledge-based society’. Based on this conviction, they have grouped together their knowledge clout with the support of the province of Zuid-Holland to form the Medical Delta Consortium.
B2SP is the very valuable result of the Medical Delta for trade and industry. B2SP is a B2B facility. It guides trade and industry towards the expertise and know-how of the regional knowledge institutes.
On the one hand, this will lead to more innovation power, more employment, a gain in time and better opportunities on the market. On the other hand, it will result in the intensification of the collaboration between the universities and knowledge institutes amongst themselves and between those organisations and trade and industry.
B2SP brings entrepreneurs and scientists together with the objective of increasing innovation in SMEs and to exploit knowledge.
