Leiden University, with its six faculties, develops knowledge in a variety of fields from physics to law and archaeology. Important research topics of Leiden University are in the area of bioscience. An important number of innovative life science enterprises in the region were started based on knowledge from Leiden University. The Leiden Bio Science Park has now grown to become a life science cluster of companies and organisations of international importance.
